ABOUT THE ARTIST:

MICHELLE PURDY is a contemporary percussionist committed to performing, teaching, experimenting, commissioning and improvising. She performs with the percussion quartet Umbilicus and the science/music ensemble The Inverse Square Trio. Ms. Purdy has performed locally in Baltimore’s High Zero & Artscape Festivals and abroad at So Percussion’s Summer Institute, IFCP at Mannes, June in Buffalo, Make Music New York, and The Center for Advanced Musical Studies at Chosen Vale. She received her B.A. in Percussion Performance at UMBC and her Masters from the University at Buffalo. Ms. Purdy currently resides in Baltimore Maryland where she teaches at Carroll Community College, Towson University, the BSO’s inner city outreach program Orchkids, and is a member of the experimental improvisation organization The Red Room Collective.
