ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Moses Simon is in his 13th year of teaching in Roma ISD. His teaching responsibilities include overseeing percussion for Roma ISD, teaching 6th through 8th grade percussion for Roma Middle School, and teaching 9th through 12th grade percussion at Roma High School. Mr. Simon received his Bachelor of Music Performance from Baylor University. Students under Mr. Simon direction have achieved success in the TMEA All-State process. The Roma Percussion High School Ensemble instructed by Mr. Simon has achieved many awards in marching, concert, and chamber festivals throughout the past decade. He is an active clinician, arranger, performer, adjudicator, and is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Percussive Arts Society.
The Roma High School Percussion Ensemble from Roma, Tx is under the direction of Moses Simon. He is assisted by Josue Ortega. The ensemble is consists of percussionists from 9th-12th grade. The Roma ISD Percussion Ensemble program was founded in 2007 by Moses Simon. Beginning in 6th grade at either Roma MS or Ramiro Barrera MS, students are introduced to the wide variety of percussion ensemble literature. The Roma High School Band program was established in 1994 and has an enrollment of over 200 students. Percussionists at Roma High School have the opportunity to perform with marching band, concert bands, solo and ensemble contests, and audition in the TMEA All-State process. The Roma ISD band family has been recognized at the state and national level at both the middle school and high school levels. This is the first invitation for the Roma High School Percussion Ensemble to perform at PASIC.
