ABOUT THE KEYBOARD FOCUS SESSION: Circling the Square for Marimba and Saxophone Quartet by David Stock

Circling the Square for Marimba and Saxophone by David Stock has never been performed. It is an extremely challenging piece for marimba with intense virtuosic passages for the accompaniment. The renown saxophone group Quartetto Obrigado has agreed to collaborate on the premier of this piece at PASIC 2019. Although David Stock has a vast amount of solo and chamber works for percussion instruments, his music is not well known in the percussion community. David Stock was an accomplished American composer with an extensive list of works. He has been commissioned by world-renown orchestras such as New York Phillarmonic, Seattle Symphony and the Pittsburgh Symphony. He is the founder of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble. This performance will serve as a gateway to his percussion music.
