Lawler + Fadoul

The duo of Lawler + Fadoul (Zara Lawler, flutist, and Paul J. Fadoul, percussion), hailed as “a great treat,”  (Classical WETA, Washington, DC) offers audiences an unexpected mélange of classical virtuosity, lively commentary, theatrical flair and a small dose of indie rock sensibility. In 2013, they released their debut album, Prelude Cocktail, called “collaborative artistry at its finest” by the music blog I Care If You Listen. Both members of “the duo” have deep roots in classical music – they were trained at Juilliard and Yale – but they also have extensive theater backgrounds, love of performance and an ability to create an atmosphere that is lively, engaging, interactive, and truly unique in the world of classical music.  Formed in 2003, they have performed throughout the US, in venues ranging from the Kennedy Center’s Concert Hall and Trinity Wall Street, to art galleries, community centers, and schools.

ABOUT THE KEYBOARD FOCUS SESSION: Clickable: The Art of Persuasion

Lawler + Fadoul will perform excerpts from their theatrical concert called Clickable: The Art of Persuasion exploring the music and words of persuasion. The first piece, a 9-minute work called Want It. Need It. Have It. by Adam Silverman, was written about his 3-year-old daughter who he calls, “the strongest-willed person I know.” Second, Lawler + Fadoul commissioned a piece by Jason Nett called Power Money Fame Sex set to the dust jacket text of a self help book of the same name by Gretchen Rubin.
