ABOUT THE PANEL: #MeToo: Recognizing, Preventing and Responding to Harassment in our Field
Presented by the PAS Diversity Alliance, this panel of experts will explore how sexual harassment can manifest in our educational and professional spaces, how we can help to prevent it, and how best to respond to it if it happens. Students and professionals will benefit from this conversation about how we can create a healthier, more welcoming environment for all percussionists.

Elizabeth DeLamater: Elizabeth DeLamater teaches at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and the International Music Camp. In 2019 Elizabeth will appear at the Honduras Internacional Festival de Percussión, the Universidad de Panamá and the Northwest Percussion Festival. She recorded Nicholaus Meyer’s new music for marimba, published this spring. Elizabeth has performed with Kaganu Percussion, Crossing 32nd Street, the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Phoenix Symphony, and Opera Project Columbus. She has performed and studied in Japan, Trinidad & Tobago and West Africa. She has been published by Instrumentalist, Percussive Notes, and Panpress, and hosts/ produces the Art Lives podcast. Elizabeth serves on the Percussive Arts Society Diversity Alliance and the PAS Health and Wellness Committee. She has performed and presented at multiple PASICs in the past. Dr. Sean Daniels: 2019 appearances include the Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) Percussion Academy. Metro-Nashville, TN Summer Band Camp, Harry Burleigh Festival Nashville, Colour of Music Festival, Columbia, South Carolina and the Colour of Music Festival, Nashville, Tennessee. Sean Daniels teaches at Tennessee State University. He has presented at PASIC, CBDNA Southern Convention, National Conference of Percussion Pedagogy and the HBCU National Band Directors Consortium. Sean Daniels has served as President of South Carolina Chapter of PAS. He has served as a member of the PAS World Percussion and Marching Percussion Committees respectively. Daniels has received numerous ASCAP awards, and his compositions are published by C. Alan Publications, Dutch Music Partners, PerMus, and Sean Sarah Publications. He is music director for the DSD Jazz Quartet, the quartets recording Amazing Grace is available through I-tunes and Amazon. Sean Daniels is currently a member of the PAS Diversity Alliance and point person for Racial Diversity. He is endorsed by Pearl/Adams and Vic Firth Percussion. Mx. Jaime Esposito: Jaime is the Co-founder of Spectrum Ensemble, a music group based in Denton, Texas that increases the visibility of talented queer musicians and composers, and an active educator and freelance percussionists in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area. In the summer of 2018 Jaime was an artist in Italy with the International Lyric Academy. In the past Jaime has been an artist with the World Percussion group and Heartland Marimba Collective. Jaime frequently plays with Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Texarkana Symphony, Allen Symphony, and Abilene Philharmonic. Jaime is the front ensemble tech and private lesson teacher at L.D. Bell High School. Jamie graduated from the University of North Texas where they also maintained responsibilities as a Teaching Fellow and a Bachelors in Percussion Performance from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music.
Dr. Jennifer Drobac: With the #MeToo and #TimesUp campaigns, people in media and politics reach out to Professor Dr. Jennifer Drobac for her expertise regarding sexual harassment and assault law. To date, she has spoken with more than 100 local, state, and national media outlets since the story of the sexual abuse accusations against film producer Harvey Weinstein broke in early October 2017. Jennifer Drobac, the Samuel R. Townsend Professor of Law, joined the faculty of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in the fall of 2001. From 1992 to 2001, she practiced law in California, focusing on employment law issues and litigation. From 1997 to 2000, she served as a lecturer at Stanford Law School. Following law school, she clerked for the Honorable Barefoot Sanders, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Dr. Debby Herbenick, PhD, MPH: Debby is a Professor in the Indiana University School of Public Health and Director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion. She is the author of more than 130 scientific publications about sexual health and relationships, the lead scientist on the decade-long National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior, and has published six books about sex and love.
